          Hearing Impaired Services 

Population Served:

Any student enrolled in DeKalb County Schools who is identified as having a hearing impairment. 

Overview Of Program:

 Direct Services: Provide itinerant resource and intensive services which may include the improvement of receptive and expressive language skills, social/emotional adjustment to the hearing impairment, and assistance with academic subjects.

Consultative Services: Provided to school faculty - i.e. to assist in the mainstreaming of students with hearing impairments within the school environment. 

Referral Procedure:

 Initial referral to local school Pupil Personnel Services Team; PPS team will send a follow up follow up referral to the school nurse.
